Stephen King

Stephen joined Believe Digital in 2010, as the UK Managing Director. Now with a global remit as Chief International Officer, Stephen is leading the rapid expansion of the company worldwide. Stephen leads the A&R team which has signed direct artist deals with James Vincent McMorrow, Gavin James, Meadowlark, The Age of L.U.N.A and Ciaran Lavery, as well as kick-starting the careers of Bastille and Aquilo. With more than 30 years of senior industry experience in artist management, he founded Ricochet Management in 1980, where he represented a host of successful artists such as The Lighthouse Family, Dina Carroll, Urban Species, Incognito, and many more. Embarking on a joint-venture with Alan McGee, the pair formed Creation Management in 2002, which was widely acknowledged to be one of the most innovative in the sector. Creation’s impressive roster included The Libertines, Mogwai, The Charlatans, Kathryn Williams, Dirty Pretty Things, The Beta Band, The Kills and Mew. Whilst at Creation, Stephen also co-ran successful label Poptones Records and consulted to The Hives.

Takayuki Suzuki

Taka is President of ParadeAll Inc, an industry veteran and consultant for many entertainment and tech companies. His distinguished career has included roles as Head of Mobile at MTV Japan; Business Development Manager of Launch Japan; and most recently, Head of Digital Business Development for Universal Music Japan. He is also Co-Founder of The Big Parade, the first music and technology conference in Japan, which showcases a wide range of speakers including domestic established artists, brands, startups, platforms; Steve Lillywhite was a keynote speaker in 2014. 

Geddy Lin

Geddy is one of the most well known and highly-regarded jazz pioneers of the Taiwanese music industry. A renowned jazz musician, studio guitarist, record producer, composer and arranger, Geddy’s career spans  more than 20 years. He has collaborated and hosted concert events for numerous acclaimed artists and is a frequent guest judge for Taiwan’s Golden Melody Award. He was educated at the Musicians Institute, Hollywood, CA - G.I.T Graduated with Honours and the V.I.T Encore Programme & M.I. Extension Programme. He is currently teaching at the National Taiwan Normal University, in the Graduate Institute of Popular Music. He is the owner of the Riverside Music Café & Live House.

Phil Patterson

Phil has over 30 years of music Industry experience, the majority of which has been spent in the International scene. Phil has worked with both major and independent record companies developing, marketing and promoting artists and catalogues across all genres, both here in the UK and around the world from Happy Hard-core to Classical and everything in-between. As a Music Industry Specialist working as a consultant with UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), Phil is now offering assistance to the industry as a whole, highlighting exactly where and how UKTI can best assist the British music industry.


Pete Chapman

Pete has worked in the music business for many years, both in the UK and Japan. He currently works as an International Trade Adviser for UKTI in the West Midlands, supporting local companies to develop export opportunities across all sectors. Pete enjoyed a long career with HMV, including 10 years in Japan. He then went to work for UKTI at the British Embassy in Tokyo and helped to organise the Japan Music Mission, along with other music-related projects. After a brief stint working for Universal Music Japan, Pete returned to the UK and currently co-manages a rock band as well as working for UKTI.


Jonathan Smith

Jonathan Smith is China Business Adviser at the China-Britain Business Council. He holds a BA from the University of Bristol and a MA in International Relations from Peking University. Jonathan speaks Chinese and has previously worked as an analyst for a consultancy in Beijing where he advised multinationals on how market trends and how new government policy would affect their business. Located in Bristol, Jonathan covers the South West region with a specific interest in the creative sector.


Dave Pichilingi

Dave has over 30 years’ experience in the international music business. Through his career as an artist, A&R, manager and events/music environment, he has worked closely with hundreds of artists including New Order, Happy Mondays, The Farm, Sub Sub, Doves, Echo and the Bunnymen, The Wombats, and with legendary record labels including RCA, Factory and Produce. For over 10 years, he worked alongside Tony Wilson (Factory Records) on the In The City music festival and business conference.  Under his guidance, In The City became the most significant event of its kind in Europe. When his long-term ally and close friend Tony Wilson died, Dave decided to set up a new company. In 2008, he launched Liverpool Sound City which is now the largest and most important metropolitan music festival and business conference in the UK. Through his leadership, Sound City now delivers world-class festivals and conferences in other international territories including Dubai, Norway and NYC.  He has also partnered with events in other markets such as Korea and the USA. 

Rebecca Ayres

Rebecca Ayres is COO of Sound City, which is a world-renowned international music, media and technology conference and live arts and music festival. Hosting hundreds of artists performing to an audience of 21,000 music fans and 2,000 industry professionals from 29 different countries, it offers controversial debate, unparalleled networking, amazing music, outstanding art, an Expo, and even a football tournament throughout three  inspirational days and hedonistic nights, in the world’s most legendary music city. Rebecca is passionate about emerging talent succeeding and one of the favourite parts of her role is overseeing the international and emerging artist programme including Sound City Korea and New York Sound City. She also runs the Sound City Entrepreneur Training Programmes which are aimed at anyone who has a burning desire to work in the music industry, and is an advisor for PRS Foundation for the Momentum music fund.

Ali Sachedina – ArmsHouse (India/ NYC)

Ali is a New York City-based entertainment attorney with over 15 years’ experience advising award-winning artists, film composers, record labels, music festivals, music publishers, electronic music producers and multi-national media companies on a wide array of music, festival production and media-related transactions in the US and India. His areas of concentration include advising clients on all aspects of entering the Indian marketplace,  related legal-risks while also providing counsel to Indian clients seeking to expand into Western markets. From 2008-2012, he founded and successfully operated Kinetic Management, an artist management company considered by many as the gateway for independent artists from India to North America. Ali’s management roster included Nitin Sawhney, Kailash Kher, Karsh Kale, the Midival Punditz, Susheela Raman, Goldspot and The Raghu Dixit Project. In 2013, he set up ArmsHouse: NYC/London/Mumbai-based media and production company focused on developing the electronic music scene in India by importing international talent into India while developing and exporting electronic music producers out of India.  Over the past four years, ArmsHouse has curated and produced stages at Vh1 Supersonic Goa, a four day, 120-artist EDM festival that has featured artists such as Paul Van Dyk, Above & Beyond, Dillon Francis, Zedd, Axwell, Goldie, Maya Jane Coles and Carl Craig. ArmsHouse is also responsible for bringing artists such as Skrillex, Major Lazer/Mad Decent and UK-based dubstep legend Mala to India for their first-ever performances in India. Ali is a graduate of the University of Virginia and the University of Richmond School of Law. 

Kong Yoon-Young – Zandari Festival (South Korea)

Known as Dalse, Kong Yoon-Young is a music director and an executive director of Zandari Festa (2012~present). Previously, Dalse was an instructor at Dong-ah Institute of Media and Art (2013-2014). Zandari Festa was launched in 2012, in Seoul, Korea. It’s the biggest global music showcase festival in Korea with more than 800 Korean artists and over 100 artists from other countries. Dalse’s international career covers:  CMJ Music Marathon (2009); SEOULSONIC North-America Tour Promotion (2010, 2011, 2012); Toronto (CMW), Austin (SXSW), New York, San Francisco, San Diego, LA; EMF (European Music Fair) (Poland Warsaw, 2013); V-ROX FEST (Vladivostok, Russia, 2013-2015); Operating director and official speaker for Korean artists; UK Tour for Korean artists (London, Liverpool, Manchester, Wexham, 2013); MIDEM 2014 (France) Opening Speech for Korean Indie Music; Creepy Teepee Festival (Czech Republic, 2015); Liverpool Sound City 2013-2015 (UK), Operating Director on the Korea Rock Stage.

Diamond Duggal - Producer

Diamond is an accomplished British-Indian music producer for a wide variety of international artists including Shania Twain, Apache Indian, Maxi Priest and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. He is also an electronic musician/ DJ (Swami) and toured as a guitarist with Boyzone and Robbie Williams. With his brother Simon, he launched the international career of Apache Indian in the UK, USA and India. Diamond is an Ivor Novello nominated songwriter and twice winner of Best Producer at the UKAMAs in 2005/2008, for his innovative fusion of electronic dance  and Indian music. He has over 20 years of experience producing, writing and licensing music for major artists and labels internationally with a key focus on India. His production company DesiRock Entertainment is based in London, UK.

John Saunderson – Notting Hill Music

John is the main contact for all writers at Nottinghill Music (NHM). He’s responsible for pitching songs worldwide to major and independent labels on behalf of the constantly increasing number of talented writers on their roster. John also specialises in the organising of NHM’s highly successful writing camps both in the UK and abroad.

Kyu Young Lee – Ruby Records and Pentaport Festival (South Korea)

Kyu Young Lee has been the CEO of Ruby Records since 2007. Kyu Young Lee has also held posts at L.I.A.K. (Record Label Industry Association of Korea); Director / booking agent — Pentaport Rock Festival; Director — KOCCA K-Rookies Programme; and Director — KOCCA Muse Live Programme.  Established in 2007, Ruby Records is based in Seoul and manages artists, oversees the music production process, and books performances for artists at various live venues ranging from music festivals to local clubs prominent in the music scene. They continue to seek new acts within South Korea and work with artists from around the world.  They are a member of the Record Label Industry Association of Korea (LIAK).

Nick Dunn – Horus Music

Nick is the founder and Managing Director of Horus Music Limited and is responsible for the overall company direction and strategy as well as global expansion. Nick is credited with starting the company with zero investment. It trades globally, creating opportunities and earning money for its diverse roster of artists where 98% of its income is generated from overseas sales - under his leadership, Horus Music has had ten successful years as an exporter. Nick has worked in a number of positions within the music industry for many years. He was also a professional trumpeter, pianist and orchestral conductor. He has had the honour of performing and conducting world and UK premieres of music by established composers. Having studied music at the University of Huddersfield at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, Nick is well-qualified in musicology, performance, theory and analysis, and enthusiastic about new musical developments. Nick is active in British Recording Industry (BPI) meetings and events as well as UK Trade & Investment missions. In his spare time, he raises money for the Leicester Royal Infirmary Gastroenterology Department. 

Shen Lihui - Modern Sky Entertainment, Ltd (China) 

Shen Lihui is the founder of Modern Sky Entertainment, Ltd., the most celebrated new music brand in China. He is also the lead vocal of the Sober band and a record producer. He founded Modern Sky in 1997, and soon after released the debut album of his own band, Sober. With a sharp eye for original music, he scouted loads of independent musicians, including New Pants, Supermarket, XTX, Song Dongye, Ma Di, Second Hand Rose and Miserable Faith, representative of Chinese independent music. Modern Sky Entertainment, Ltd. is the leading music entertainment company in mainland China. Modern Sky acts on behalf of artists; provides record production and releases; music event sponsorship and production; produces large outdoor festivals and concerts; and live house tours. As the largest independent record label in China, Modern Sky Records has released more than 200 since 1997. It produces over 500 shows per year, including Modern Sky acts, overseas acts, HK & TW acts and shows. As the largest outdoor music festival operator in China, Modern Sky held Modern Sky Music Festival, Strawberry Music Festival, Greenfest Music Festival, 500 KM Music Festival Kunming and other outdoor music festivals. Over three million have attended their events and they’ve reached over 20 million Chinese young people. In 2014, Modern Sky Music Festival took place in New York City, and in 2015, it will take place in Helsinki, New York and Seattle.

Stan Yu – Fosun Group (China)

Stan is the Director of TMT & Entertainment, Fosun Group; an investment company for the music and sports industry. Recent deals have included Modernsky, the No 1 indie music label and No 1 music festival promotor in China; Gestifue, the No1 football agency in the world, with front man Jorge Mendes, a super agent for the likes of C. Ronaldo and Mourinho. 

Pete Downton
Pete joined 7digital as Deputy CEO in June 2014, assuming overall responsibility for its commercial strategy. He brings over 15 years of operational and strategic experience within the heart of the nascent digital music and consumer technology businesses to the role.
Prior to 7digital, Pete held key leadership roles at Imagination Technologies, including responsibility for content and consumer experiences across both the Imagination Technologies and PURE businesses. He also spearheaded the company’s investment in Audioboom. Prior to joining Imagination, Pete spent over a decade working for Warner Music Group, holding senior management positions in the company's International Marketing and Business Development teams. He helped to build Warner Music International’s reputation as one of the most innovative, creative and respected media players in the digital arena and played a key role in establishing ongoing relationships with major global partners such as iTunes, Orange and Vodafone

Mandar Thakur

Mandar is COO of Times Music, one of India’s leading record labels and music publishers. Times Music is a division of India’s largest media conglomerate, The Times of India group.  Mandar began his career in Hong Kong with The Entertainment Co Group working for their Asian concert promotion business in the early ‘90s, after  which he set up the then path breaking 24 hour music television station, Channel [V]. Over the last decade and a half, he pioneered the digital music landscape as part of the founding team at Soundbuzz, then Asia/India’s largest digital music distribution company, which was acquired by Motorola.

Simon Wheeler

Previously a musician, engineer, producer, remixer and promoter, Simon has been with The Beggars Group since 1990. Starting work with online distribution in 1997, licensing the group’s catalogue for download sales, he has since worked with almost every significant entity in digital media. He chairs and speaks  at music conferences around the world on digital music and media strategy, addresses Parliament on DRM, and has testified at the USA's CRB webcasting proceedings. He is also a director and board member of Video Performance Ltd (VPL) and Consolidated Independent (CI), but the most important role is keeping the Beggars Group of labels at the forefront of all new technologies to deliver its award-winning roster of artists to the widest possible audience. The Beggars Group represents 4AD, Matador, Rough Trade, XL Recordings and Young Turks.

Greig Watts

Greig is one third of the UK-based writing, production and publishing team, DWB. His main role is writing lyrics as well as melody and he also heads up the publishing department. This involves managing many other writers - between them, they have been involved in over 60 million sales; they host their own successful camps and give talks at conferences in Russia on K-Pop.
